Verde hits a high note

Generous portions of wonderful food served with good wine in a friendly atmosphere has become the Verde tradition. And many of those who are happy to linger longer over lunch will enjoy selecting from the enormous Specials Board - the focal point of Verde's menu. Changed daily, it often includes favourites such as chargrilled fillet mignon, pesto crusted schnapper, seared local scallops and, if warming comfort food is what you want, osso bucco and charred lamb rump are regularly on offer.

Seafood, steak, pizza, pasta and risotto are the traditional fare off the a'la carte menu, said Verde owner/chef Cameron Taylor, although we do have an extensive specials board and are becoming known for signature dishes such as our Crispy Skin Duck, Reef and Beef and Grilled Moreton Bay Bugs with Garlic Butter, he added.

We recently added a selection of Spanish style Tapas dishes to the specials board which has taken Mt. Eliza by storm. Delacacies on offer can include, salt & pepper squid, grilled half shell scallops in garlic butter, seared tuna skewers with wasabi mayo...

Cameron knows the Mt Eliza psyche well, having lived in the area since a young lad and has designed the menu so that it's possible to pop in for a quick, delectable bite whilst on the run or conversely enjoy a three or four course dinner or a long Sunday lunch.

Our team of chefs led by Jaqueline Connon and backed by Jan Davies are implementing their newest and best menu to date. These girls have a well earned reputation for working with fresh, local produce said Cameron. It is wonderful to have such a bright young team with so much enthusiasm, good looks and poor taste in music.


Red Hill Golden Ale is now on tap. Pale and crisp light bodied ale, fruity with a restrained hoppy dryness created by our own Hallertauer & Tettnanger hop flowers. This beer is fermented at a cool temperature to create a crisp, clean finish and uses the best quality imported German Pilsner Malt.
